A Note on Payment Processing Fees & Supporting Tawas Wellness
As many of you know, Tawas Wellness is a nonprofit organization powered primarily by volunteers. Those who do receive compensation are paid modestly, despite the significant work they contribute.
This model has allowed us to keep our programming both affordable and diverse. However, the recent addition of conveniences like online booking and credit card payments at Monday Suppers has increased our operational costs. Each month, we now see hundreds of dollars lost to credit card processing fees—funds that could otherwise support our wellness programs.
To help offset these costs, our Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to add a 3% fee to all in-person credit card purchases. To provide alternative payment options, we’ve installed an ATM in our lobby, and we’re happy to accept checks made out to Tawas Wellness.
We are incredibly proud of the growth we’ve achieved this past year, and we recognize that technological advancements come with added expenses. To make monthly membership renewals easier, we have budgeted for the associated online fees. However, when purchasing your next Class Pass, we encourage the use of cash or checks to help minimize processing costs.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Together, we can keep Tawas Wellness growing strong😊
